About Ed Sim and What's Hot 🔥 in Enterprise IT/VC

If you are a bold founder building the autonomous enterprise or VC, this newsletter is for you. I’ve been an Inception Investor for over 29 years collaborating with founders well before they incorporate; helping them battle test and iterate those ideas, pre-sell some of the initial hires, and lead those rounds upon company formation so founders can run fast out of gates and not spend months trying to raise capital.

I’ve been fortunate to partner with many founders creating new categories in enterprise software, some of whom were a bit too early and others who timed it just right. Some of these inception investments include companies like Snyk (dev first security), Protect AI (leader in AI security, sold to Palo Alto Networks for $700M), Kustomer (support reinvented, sold to Meta for over $1B), Tessl (AI native software development), BigID (data security, privacy), Blockdaemon (blockchain infra for institutions), Superhuman (sold to Grammarly), and Security Scorecard.

I also co-founded, MState, the world’s first enterprise blockchain lab in partnership with IBM and Comcast where we invested in the inception round of Fireblocks. I’ve also experienced several bull and bear markets, having been around since the mid-90s investing in SaaS pioneers like GoToMeeting and LivePerson, and open source infra startups like Greenplum which later IPOed as Pivotal Software.
