About The Mercatus Center
“I am obliged to cry: ‘Stop! ’ Your theory has stopped at what is seen and takes no account of what is not seen. ” - Frederic Bastiat
The Unseen and The Unsaid is a newsletter about economic freedom, fiscal policy, and common-sense policy reforms. While the focus is primarily on fiscal sustainability and tax reform, we plan to discuss the unseen impacts of all government interventions. These unintended consequences of Big Government are not only unseen, but are frequently left unsaid.
We hope to bring these to light in three primary ways:
Long form discussions on policy discussions
Short reactions to explain what’s going on and why it matters
Research summaries of important research in the academy, as well as the work we do as a team
Meet the Team
