The Anchovy is a newsletter written and published by me (Adam Leigh).
It’s been some years since I wrote just to see how the words might come out; whether they read well, or made the point I was looking for. When I was regurgitated by the newspaper industry a decade or so ago, I discovered I could pay the mortgage by writing and editing for big brands and businesses instead – which is a perfectly decent way to carry on, but doesn’t leave much room for free expression.
Naturally, like any hard-wired journalist, I still care deeply about what’s going on in the world. News media and socials are great (mostly) for keeping me up to speed. And the availability of commentary and intelligence, through platforms such as this, is properly astonishing.
