About The Only Girl
Hi, I’m Jess, and if you don’t spot me on the football sidelines with a thermos cuppa in hand, you can usually find me at a carboot sale/preloved event/antiques fair, scrolling Vinted and Facebook Marketplace, desperately trying to bring down our beach hut’s cost per use in all weathers, taxiing teenagers, concocting another plan to rejig our ex-local authority semi to fit our blended family of 5 boys and live out my Scandi/beach house dreams, or creating recipes to keep the rabble at bay.
I’m 40, trying to claw back some sense of self as perimenopause hit like a steam train on wet tracks on my 39th birthday. I live in the West Sussex countryside with my partner Russ of 12 years (second time around for us both, but no, we’re not married… yet?!? ), the family dog and 2 cats, and variations of our 5 boys – Casper (10), Bruno (17), Hugo (18), Marley (21) and Noah (23). I say ‘variations’ as they come and go depending on finances, relationships, football commitments and what’s for dinner that night – it’s a revolving door of ‘bants’/dirty Nike socks and a nostalgic kinda love.
I love learning a new craft and never finishing projects, I adore interiors books that I’ll never read and insist on making 20 cups of tea a day which will always go cold.
