Accessing Your Inner Well
“Writers at the Well” is an interview series that invites authors to share the intimate inner workings of their creative flow. Why the title?
As a college student I hung a print of “The Broken Pitcher” by William-Adolphe Bouguereau in my dorm room. Intuitively I sensed the girl was me. Her well was full, yet she couldn’t access it.
As I made half-successful efforts to write and paint, I felt cut off from some deeper power, my core me-ness, the private voice that lived at the bottom of the well.
