I’m sending you thoughts on the world as it is, or as it seems to me. The title of this newsletter, Differ We Must, is also the title of Steve Inskeep's forthcoming history of Lincoln—his life story as told through his meetings with people who differed with him. He thinks that dealing with people who disagree is one of the challenges of our time, so he is trying here to face the same problem in the present day.
