The projects that most excite me build models (for-profit or non-profit) that leverage and grow the inherent potential, motivations, and trust in a community to create a monetizable offering to institutions or external funders.
This could look like Silvi, empowering rural farmers in Kenya to get paid for planting native trees by reforestation supporters from across the world. The natural connections that farmers have with each other are leveraged to offer local non-profits and government agencies reforestation efforts that include stewardship of the tree over it’s full lifecycle, increasing maturity rate.
This could look like Think Regeneration, connecting high-performing farmers implementing regenerative techniques to other nodes of the food supply chain in their region while offering leadership developing workshops, forming regional regenerative agriculture hubs.
