About Scott Ritter
I am a former Marine intelligence officer who served in the former Soviet Union, implementing arms control agreements, and on the staff of General Norman Schwarzkopf during the Gulf War, where I played a critical role in the hunt for Iraqi SCUD missiles. From 1991 until 1998, I served as a Chief Inspector for the United Nations in Iraq, leading the search for Iraq’s proscribed weapons of mass destruction.
I have been a vocal critic of the American decision to go to war with Iraq, a staunch proponent of bettering US-Russian relations, a strong advocate for nuclear disarmament and arms control, and a firm believer in waging peace.
I am the author of a number of books, including Scorpion King: America’s Suicidal Embrace of Nuclear Weapons from FDR to Trump, Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika, a memoir of my time as a weapons inspector in the Soviet Union, and my most recent book, Highway to Hell: The Armageddon Chronicles, 2014-2015. Together these three books constitute a trilogy that captures the history of America’s addiction to nuclear weapons, the danger of nuclear weapons today, and the need for and effectiveness of arms control in eliminating the threat of nuclear weapons.
A subscription helps support the important work I am undertaking to promote free speech, advocate for disarmament, and wage peace.
