My name is Michael Pershan, and I’m a mathematics teacher and writer in New York City. This newsletter is about teaching, education, mathematics, and research.
Here are some of the things I’ve done over the years:
I wrote a book for John Catt about teaching mathematics using worked examples. I posted examples and a sample chapter here.
I’ve been highly critical of the math education group YouCubed and their use of educational research, along with the California Math Framework.
I wrote readable Q&As about educational research, on topics such as homework or grading.
