My name is Zichen Wang. I’m the Founder and Editor of Pekingnology, the Chinese mainland–based English-language newsletter with the largest subscriber base—and the greatest influence—among overseas audiences, especially within Western China-policy, media, academic, business, and investor circles.
After growing up in China and earning a bachelor’s degree from Shandong Economic University (now Shandong University of Finance and Economics) in July 2011, I worked for Xinhua News Agency for over 11 years, including 29 months in Brussels covering the European Union.
In October 2022, I left Xinhua and joined the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), a leading non-government think tank in Beijing, as Research Fellow and Director for International Communications. During a one-year leave from CCG between July 2024 and July 2025, I earned a mid-career Master in Public Policy (MPP) at the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), Princeton University, fully funded by an SPIA fellowship. After graduation, I returned to CCG and have served as Deputy Secretary-General since December 2025.
