Welcome to Brave New Words, where we will endeavour to create a New Word Order shedding light on many dark and difficult truths about these mad, bad, end of days.
At a time when much everyday language is off-limits as “verba tacenda”—words not to be spoken, words better left unsaid, and when conventional critical expression is so effortlessly censored and suppressed as “hate speech”, the silenced majority could benefit from a novel lexicon of anti-dystopian satire and dissent.
Here, no institutions, identities or ideologies will be spared a good, honest naming and shaming for the scourges and shams that they invariably are. We will dare speak with our own “verba nefanda” or dread new “unspeakable words” to those who would police our conscience and comment, or desire we simply never spoke at all.
