About Meagan Francis

Hello, friend.

I’m Meagan, a tea lover, book reader, chicken tender, mother of five mostly-adult kids—and as a fairly new step-grandma who hopes to have a whole pile of grandbabies to spoil and guide one day, I also like to think of myself as a matriach-in-training.

After more than two decades writing (and later, podcasting) about finding more satisfaction in motherhood - while navigating a series of reinventions like a divorce at 40, multiple career pivots, moving and remarriage a couple of years ago - I’m moving into a new stage of life shaped less by the demands of small children and more by the changing seasons, my creative passions, nature, and my own intuition.

These shifts initially prompted me to face a big question: if I’m not actively mothering (and writing and talking about it for a career), then…what am I doing?

I’m someone who likes a Big Question to mull over, a project to throw myself into - and yet, instead of taking on a big, specific, concrete Mission, I found myself dabbling: taking up new hobbies and pastimes with fresh curiosity, and returning to childhood passions in a way that feels like going home.

All the discrete paths I found myself starting to wander down - an incomplete list includes taking a yoga teacher training program, opening a tea shop and enrolling in a certification program to become a tea sommelier, baking sourdough and making yogurt, keeping chickens, getting into foraging for edible and medicinal plants, taking up embroidery, and even delving back into a decades-neglected faith - all felt like breadcrumbs leading me somewhere, but where?
