About Emmanuelle Maréchal
Who am I?
From Bordeaux and Vendée, not Paris. My name is Emmanuelle Maréchal, and unlike my very French name doesn’t tell you, I am a child of the African diaspora, more precisely from Douala, Cameroon, where I was born and spent part of my childhood.
I think in French, speak in Italian, and work in English. After fourteen years of roaming around Europe, I decided to call a small southern Italian town home.
A writer, editor-translator, and curious cultural wanderer, my writing centers culture, fashion, language, identity — and especially the stories of the African diaspora in Europe, voices too often overlooked in mainstream conversations.
