My name is Alex Gallacher. I’m the founder, editor, curator, and chief janitor at KLOF Magazine (formerly known as Folk Radio/Folk Radio UK), one of the longest-running online independent music magazines. We’ve been championing and curating intelligent, uncompromising voices in contemporary and experimental music—the artists working outside the mainstream’s narrow gaze, since 2004.
KLOF Mag believes the future of music lives at the margins. While algorithms feed you the familiar, we document the artists rewriting the rules—the ones who’ll be canonical decades from now, while today’s mainstream fades into static. Deep listening and critical writing aren’t luxuries; they’re how we map the unmapped, connect scattered communities, and ensure bold work doesn’t disappear into the noise.
