About Kim TallBear

Welcome to Unsettle

Unsettle is written by Kim TallBear, Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Peoples, Technoscience and Society in the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Native Studies. I am a citizen of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate and the author of Native American DNA: Tribal Belonging and the False Promise of Genetic Science (University of Minnesota Press, 2013). I am a frequent (social) media commentator, public intellectual, Dakota nationalist, and critic of settler-colonial power and politics. I am a regular roundtabler on MEDIA INDIGENA, a weekly Indigenous current affairs podcast. My posts here, usually free to read (you need a paid subscription to comment), offer analyses that range across my usual topics of interest: Indigenous-related politics of science and technology, race, environment, and sexuality.
