To me, In the Weeds has always resonated on two levels.
One: the chaos of the service industry — that moment during the dinner rush when three tables sit at once, the kitchen calls out orders, and the bartender hasn’t even glanced at your ticket.
Two: the creative life — balancing the work of writing a novel with the practical and emotional demands of survival: managing rejection, making money, finding time, keeping the faith.
I started In the Weeds to talk honestly about pursuing creative work while managing everything else. For over ten years, working as a waitress and bartender gave me the flexibility to write — it funded my life and ultimately helped me complete the novel that led to signing with a literary agent.
Today, I’m a writing coach and teacher helping women build their creative lives — from drafting their novels to trusting their creative seasons and cycles, to finding and sustaining momentum, and finishing their books without burnout or force.
