About Tristan Louth-Robins
I've written for a long time, mostly on my long running artist blog. In recent years, I started leaning into a style of writing that was equal parts essay and personal journal, drawing on themes of recollection, the environment and acoustic ecology. I suppose it’s one exponent of my attempt as an artist to seek out meaning, solace and joy in the noise of planetary decline. In late 2022, I settled on a format that seemed to work with short essays drawn from the above themes and capped at approximately 1500 words.
The first few of these essays have already been published on my blog, but in 2023 I decided that they are probably better suited to Substack, so I’ve begun the migration here whilst also freeing up my blog for other posts, such as what I’m currently working on. I’ve always been one for compartmentalising activities and output, so essays will go here; whilst everything else lands elsewhere.
