Who am I and what am I doing here?
This newsletter began as a companion to my book, Impossible Histories, published by Macmillan/Odd Dot in 2023, and this fact explains the “annotations” tab—they are indeed annotations to that very book—and you’ve got an index and a bibliography and a bunch of posts that are pretty much extra chapters of the book, if the book had extra chapters.
But that book was a long time ago! The years, as Smash Mouth warned us, don’t stop coming. I’ve got new books out, and the newsletter has resolved itself into four unequal parts.
