So,what’s this Getting Personal all about?
I have over 30 years of experience making personal documentaries for HBO and other international broadcasters. Getting Personal with Doug Block is where I share stories, advice and hard-earned lessons I’ve learned working in a genre of documentary that comes with its own unique set of challenges. I’ll be focusing in particular on the personal doc I’m currently making, Betty & Henri (& Me), and on another I’m producing, My Omaha, now playing the festival circuit.
Dipping into my archives, I’ll be posting highlights from filmed interviews with many leading personal doc filmmakers, and a wealth of video clips, behind-the-scenes material and resources.
And because I’ve gotten heavily into iPhone photography this past decade, I’ll be sprinkling in some of my favorite images (which you can buy, hint hint).
