I’m a weekly columnist for The Times: this notebook is a more personal space. I use it to write up notes of interviews, discussions I attend, with people you probably won’t have heard of.
The main purpose is to publish my data library which I use to check my own instincts and prejudices. In this new era of digital scrutiny, readers should be able to check that writers like me haven’t cherry-picked or are not misrepresenting the sources we use. Or even spot a story we have missed.
It also publishes various beta versions of the journalism tools that I’m working on.
