About Fiction Attic Press

Fiction Attic Press began in 2005 as a labor of love, publishing flash fiction, short stories, and essays online and in print. The publication started as a way for founder Michelle Richmond to stay connected with the literary world as a brand new mom, too exhausted to write but desperate to read. Intended to last a year, it has now been going for two decades.

As a writer, Michelle Richmond got her start with a linked story collection and loves reading the flash fiction form as much as writing it. Early issues of Fiction Attic included very short stories by Thaisa Frank, Steve Almond, Gloria Frym, Stephen Elliott, Michelle Tea, and Vanessa Hua, among others, and interviews with literary luminaries like Kate Braverman.
