About the Author
Hi, I’m Noelle Acheson. I stumbled across Bitcoin in 2014, when I was decompressing from having sold an ecommerce company I founded and catching up on what had been happening in the world when I wasn’t paying attention. Since I’m a detail-obsessed nerd, I dove into understanding how it worked, and once I realized I was looking at code for permissionless payments, I got goosebumps. I’m far from a cypherpunk - but I grew up in Zambia, and just thinking about what that could do for commerce in that part of the world… I know, that has yet to work out, but the more I dug, the more interesting the potential and the obstacles became.
I’ve never been a professional writer, but I reached out to CoinDesk in 2016 with a long list of reasons why they should hire me - much to my surprise, they did. I started out writing their newsletters and, given my 10 years in tradfi out of university, soon moved on to covering crypto through the institutional lens.
