About Crux

Crux provides comprehensive reporting and thoughtful analysis across the entire climbing world. From competitive events and gear innovations to critical safety discussions, historical achievements, and the compelling stories of individuals who define the sport, we cover the spectrum of climbing.

At the beginning of each year, Crux publishes a deeply reflective tribute to the climbers lost in the prior year. This annual compilation honors community members ranging from 18 to 91, including Yosemite’s first climbing ranger and daring alpinists. These individuals are remembered for their diverse contributions, whether establishing new routes in iconic locations like Yosemite and Nepal, competing on the international circuit, producing documentaries, or building local communities through guiding and teaching.

This tribute is a somber yet reflective reminder of the inherent dangers, rich history, and strong community within our sport.
