Someone smart told me I should write something informative here, in case people think I’m a different Brad Phillips. Pathological self-obsessiveness made me forget there might be other people out there who share my name.
I’m an artist and a writer and I was born in Canada but I live in New York City. I wrote the short story collection Essays & Fictions, and I’ve published writing in The Paris Review, Granta, Playboy, Vice, Purple Fashion Magazine and elsewhere. Sometimes I write art criticism, sometimes I write about the way my mind works, or more often how it does not.
I have shown art for a long time, since before 9/11.
