About Books & Culture
I’m an English literature lecturer, writer, and coffee enthusiast with a PhD in Literary Studies—but most importantly, I’m here to make the classics feel alive, relevant, and endlessly rewarding to read.
My Read the Classics series takes you on a guided journey through great works of literature, offering background on the author and historical context, close reading of specific extracts, and an in-depth literary analysis. It’s like a book club, a literature class, and a friendly conversation all in one.
We begin in September with Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” a short but hauntingly rich story of superstition, mystery, and the strange spaces between history and legend. From there, every two months we will go on a different literary journey through the classics of literature.
If you love discovering (or rediscovering) books with fresh insight and a welcoming guide, you’re in the right place.
