About Jesse King (aka Dubmatix)
Dubmatix is a 2-time Juno Award Winner and nine-time Juno Award nominee and one of Canada’s most celebrated reggae producers.
Since bursting onto the scene with Champion Sound Clash in 2004, he’s become an international fixture in reggae, dub, and bass music.
His signature sound—heavy basslines, majestic horns, and deep percussive grooves—has earned him accolades from Billboard, Rolling Stone Magazine, The Wire UK, BBC Radio’s Don Letts & David Rodigan, XM Radio’s Dermott Hussey, and reggae lovers worldwide.
A lifelong music and radio enthusiast, Dubmatix got his start in the 1990s at CHUM FM / AM as a show producer, tape-op, and satellite department engineer. In 2013, he launched his own syndicated show, The Bassment Sessions, on CIUT 89. 5FM in Toronto, which ran for 10 years, blending reggae, dub, and bass culture for global audiences.
