About Barbara Serra
I’m a journalist/TV news presenter with 25 years’ experience working for some of the world’s leading news networks, including Al Jazeera English, Sky News and the BBC. I am one of the very few second-language English TV news presenters on the main anglophone networks. That, along with always having lived and worked between different nations, cultures and languages, gives me a different insight and take on the stories I cover.
In this newsletter I focus on:
The impact that using English as the global language has on the international news narrative and on how we see the world
Fascism, and how different cultures relate to it depending on their history, especially between my native Italy and my adoptive home, the UK
The hidden struggles (and rare benefits too! ) that being a second-language English speaker in an English-dominated world can bring, and how to try to overcome them
