About the Author
Angela Yuriko Smith is a poet, editor, and publishing consultant who believes that access, clarity, and community matter as much as talent.
She is the publisher of Space and Time magazine, the longest-running semi-professional speculative magazine in continuous print in the United States, and has served as a President of the Horror Writers Association. Her own writing spans genres and forms, from poetry to nonfiction, and has been recognized with multiple honors, including Bram Stoker Awards®, the Speculative Literature Foundation’s Older Writers Grant, and the HWA Mentor of the Year Award.
Angela created Authortunities out of lived experience: years spent navigating publishing from every angle, including writer, editor, publisher, and advocate. What began as a personal system for tracking calls and deadlines grew into a weekly calendar designed to help writers spend less time searching and more time submitting, without burnout or gatekeeping. Authortunities exists to make the publishing ecosystem more visible, more humane, and more navigable, one opportunity at a time.
