“Things I Think Are Awesome” (aka “TITAA”) is a sizable fun tech news newsletter I (Lynn Cherny) publish twice a month, faithfully. One of those posts is free, the other has a paywall after an intro. I cover news of interest to me: creative AI research & tools, narrative & games AI, procedural generation & web toys, esoterica & weird news (including AI weirdness), science, folklore/archaeology, data science/NLP/data visualization. There is also a subscriber-only monthly media recs (sf & f and thriller books, games, tv).
Paid support is a huge help to me, because it allows me to justify some time off to compile it (it takes a minimum of a day each issue) and some expense deductions. If you become a paid supporter, there is a lot of content for you: the mid-month news section which is much weirder, and the full media recs with a separate mailing with more detail.
