About Alison Rose Reed

Welcome to Napkin Manifestos!

While facing whistleblower retaliation at a public research university in the South, I started stripping so I could resign from my tenured job as an English professor and pursue my dream of living as a writer. Shaped by these experiences as a recovering academic and neurodivergent sex worker, I write creative nonfiction about gender-based violence and emotional labor from the university to the strip club, as well as the broader structures of power and social movements that shape them.

Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of new posts and access my publication archives. You’ll receive a napkin manifesto only once or twice a month for the time being, as my writing process is long and my work week longer (comparable, perhaps, to my average word count).
