About Acacia Johnson
Who am I?
Hello there! I’m Acacia, a professional photographer from Alaska and a contributor to National Geographic, TIME, The New York Times, and others. I have a BFA in Photography, a former life as a polar expedition guide, and a career in magazine photography that I somehow developed through sheer trial and error.
At the heart of my work, I take pictures because I believe that the stories we tell about the natural world can influence how we care for the planet. I’ve photographed Alaskan brown bears, a surprisingly musical walrus sanctuary, subsistence traditions in the Canadian Arctic, and documented pink snow spreading across Antarctica.
